FHSWIN - Preparing for Reports

Printer/Page Setups
The first step in preparing to Print Reports is to describe a format for the report page. Main Menu option "File/Printer-Page Setup" provides for this.

The "Printer/Page Setups" form has several parts. The "Windows Driver:" shows the name of the current Default Printer for Windows. The "Printer Setup:" is a set of values that identify: the report "Dest"ination (it can be "Screen", "Printer" or "File"); the "Font" charactistics (Name, size, symbol set); orientation (Portrait or Landscape); and "Page Parameters" (Width, Length, margins). The "Add" and "Del" buttons can be used to Create New or Remove Existing Printer/Page Setups from the table. The "Default Setup" is the one that will be in effect when a working session begins.

You should probably have at least 2 "Printer Setups": a "PORTRAIT" for upright orientation of standard letter-size pages; and "LANDSCAPE" for horizontal orientation of letter-size pages. You may want others if you print to both Letter Size and Legal Size pages.

I normally use "File" as the destination and then use the "View" option of the Report Print Program (that will come a little later) to see the report in the file. ( The "Printer Setup" and "Dest"ination are easily changed from the form for printing reports).
